Chiswick COVID-19 Group Engages The Community

The Chiswick COVID-19 Mutual Aid Group has now gained nearly 1300 followers on Facebook and has more on their WhatsApp group.

The group offers a platform for local residents to ask for and offer help. It was started by local resident Philippa Griffin. Philippa is keen to point out that the group has a non-heirarchical structure. It’s really a self-perpetuating group, based on the residents offering free help and support to each other.

Local resident and actress Daisy Fletcher is one of many volunteers. Daisy said that becoming a volunteer had really helped her to deal with the current crisis.

Support for NHS Staff

Chiswick Mutual Aid is collecting food and toiletries for the Imperial Health Charity’s COVID-19 appeal.  The items will be delivered to local hospitals and distributed to staff.

Most needed are

  • hand cream (small containers with pumps), hand sanitiser, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, hairbands/pins, dry shampoo, face wash
  • cardboard boxes for transportation

Items are being collected at St Michael’s Centre next door to the Church in Elmwood Road.  1-5pm on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 April
