Chiswick House and Gardens – Where Next?

The Director of Chiswick House and Gardens Trust, Xanthe Arvanitakis revels future plans in this Wednesday Webinar.

Within days of having started in the role, Xanthe was faced with running the historic Chiswick location whilst all income disappeared. The circus, the food events and the weddings all disappeared overnight. The shortfall was £500,000 and inevitable redundancies followed.

Undaunted, the Trust and the Friends of Chiswick House mounted fund-raising campaigns and the hashtag #welovechiswickhouse was launched.

The Trust and Friends have been hugely encouraged by the generosity and resilience of the community. They reached their target of £120,000 in 120 days and gained a lottery grant as well.

So what does the future hold? Lorna Ko chats to Xanthe Arvanitakis to discover some exciting plans for the future.

Although the webinar series is free to watch, Chiswick House and Gardens Trust are asking viewers to make a donation. This will help to ease the £500k shortfall from the cancellation of all weddings and major events this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
