Richard Chappell Dance: Still Touch

A moving exploration of the relationship between three dancers and three life-size human sculptures, Still Touch is a collaboration between the critically acclaimed ensemble Richard Chappell Dance and internationally renowned sculptor Anna Gillespie.

Created initially for Royal Opera House’s Month of Sundays Festival, it emotes the personal and human need for touch to be reciprocated by a living and moving person, examining the sensitive dynamic of touch between performers who are alive in perpetual motion and individual sculptures of people fixed in constant stillness. Still Touch features Richard Chappell Dance’s unique and distinguishable use of contemporary dance, ballet, partner work and improvisation whilst diving into the combination of what people can express in motion and what sculpture expresses through image. It features stunning sculptures that can also be seen up close in our gallery before the performance.

This is a beautiful and original show which moves the audience to consider how we might experience connection when a loved one is not there.

The show is in two parts: the main 55-minute performance in our theatre at 8.30pm, and a preceding interactive performance in the gallery (7.30-8pm), where you will walk among the dancers and sculpture(s?). The gallery performance is optional but we think it adds to the overall experience. Please drop into the gallery any time between 7.30-8pm and enjoy the interactive performance for as long as you like.
