The Memory Library
Artist Marie Klimis has been commissioned to create a new art installation for Heston Library celebrating the memories of the Hounslow local community. Over the past year, Marie has worked with a group of local people in Heston to create this new, original artwork.
The Memory Library is an installation inspired by the reflections and memories of the Hounslow local community: Marie will transform an old library index card cabinet into a library of Hounslow memories: in each drawer, visitors will find miniature art installations using sound, smell and objects that reflect the voices of Hounslow residents.
Marie Klimis is a writer, storyteller and designer specialising in multidisciplinary projects. Her work focuses on combining storytelling with sound design and traditional crafts. She is passionate about making arts more accessible and bringing performances outside of theatre venues, creating work that is inclusive, challenging and fun for people of all ages and backgrounds.
This installation will open with a celebration event on 16 December 2019, 5pm-7pm at Heston Library and it will then tour Hounslow libraries throughout 2020. The project is funded by the Arts Council England, and supported by Creative People and Places Hounslow’s Visual Arts Programme.
