Okay so I did a post on how to be productive whilst at home or working from home, but I’ve recently heard quite a few saying that they’re are being too productive or are feeling obliged to be constantly working at the moment, so here are my top tips on how to RELAX!

  • On my productivity post, I mentioned using Google Calendar to organise and time block your workload, but make sure to schedule in some DOWN TIME in your day. Time where you are not stimulating your brain too much! You don’t have to literally sit there and do nothing, but just do something that you find RELAXING. Maybe painting, reading, watching Youtube, listening to a podcast, scrolling on social media…
  • If you enjoy journalling or writing, now is the perfect time to pick up the pen and start writing (or typing on the laptop)
  • I have already mentioned this in previous posts, but YOGA and MEDITATION are perfect ways to chill out. Studies have shown that yoga and meditation stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows down your brain waves and your body’s processes, making you feel more relaxed and chilled
  • Go for a walk and get some FRESH AIR (of course, this one only applies if you can go outside at the moment!)
  • Put on some MUSIC or light a CANDLE. There’s something about background music and the scent of my favourite candles that makes me feel so happy and homely
  • Focus on your BREATHING. If I’m feeling really stressed, I take at least three deep breaths and I immediately feel calmer
  • Take a long hot bath or shower (I think most of us would agree that this is such a relaxing thing to do)
  • Make a hot drink. My hot drink of choice is coffee (yes, coffee relaxes me), but if you are sensitive to caffeine, I suggest going with something like a hot chocolate or a Horlicks!

Of course, we all want to be super productive at the moment, but remember that relaxing is just as important!
