This year Chiswick House will be celebrating the Women who made Chiswick in a series of events to tie in with the centenery of women getting the vote. Archivist Esme Whittaker tells us of the surprising backgrounds to the women and the key roles that some of them played in the building, design and operation of the house and gardens – inspiring and leading the way for the many who are involved in the management of the house and gardens today.
