Danuta Szlachetko enrolled in the Polish Underground Army also known as the AK when she was just 14 years old during World War 2. Her codename was Wira and she fought valiantly against the Nazis during the Warsaw Uprising. She then became one of the world’s first female POW’s before finally settling in Ealing in West London. Her son George Szlachteko has spent 3 years carefully documenting his Mother’s story and has written a book entitled ‘Wira of Warsaw”. Danuta is now 86 years old and Chiswickbuzz TV had the privilege to interview her about her extraordinary life.
