Overview: London Welsh is an English amateur rugby union club based at Old Deer Park in Richmond, London. They were the amateur team of London Welsh until the professional team’s liquidation in 2017.[3] The amateur team continued independently as they were considered a separate club by the Rugby Football Union.[4] They currently play in London 2 North West – a league at tier 7 of the English rugby union system – following the club’s promotion as champions of London 3 North West at the end of the 2018–19 season.
The 19-20 season is looking promising as they lead the league (Feb 2020)
The club runs 3 main sides, First XV, Druids 2nd XV and Dragons 3rd XV, as well as mini rugby from U7’s to U12’s the midi rugby from U13’s to U18’s. In addition there is an active veterans team at one end of the age spectrum and the Griffins U23 at the other end! There is a successful London Welsh Womens team (2/9 in the league) and also girls rugby section.
Chiswickbuzz View: London Welsh is a well known and well run organisation. The old Deer park ground is a landmark in its own right and club enjoys a rich tradition. The club has some of the best facilities in the area. As an amateur club the ground and club house are exceptional.
The club attracts strong players and the 2020 season is shaping up to potentially be another promotion year.
