Women’s squad

The TSS Women’s Squad is working hard to expand over the 2012-13 season and beyond, and is always keen to hear from women (aged 19+) who wish to further their competitive rowing career. We field successful athletes at all levels of competition, from wins on the local regatta circuit to medals at Women’s Henley and National Championships.

Men’s squad

The men’s squad caters for those who would like to row at a competitive club level in the UK.

From September through to December we try to go to as many of the regional small boats heads events as is possible. The focus of these races is usually on singles and doubles.

During the summer, while the focus is on qualification at Henley and racing at the National Championships, we also go to most of the large regattas in the region.

Juniors

Tideway Scullers School is a great place for juniors to learn and enjoy sculling, and to develop into competitive athletes. The qualified coaching team are tasked with developing juniors into the top scullers in the UK.

Members are expected to commit to regular training, both on the water and in the gym to develop technique, strength and fitness. Training schedules apply to school term time, though some groups continue to train in the school holidays.

There are a number of groups, arranged by age and experience:

  • Beginners (currently age 11 to 16)
  • Young Racers (age 12 to 14)
  • Junior Men (age 14 to 18)
  • Junior Women (age 14 to 18)
  • Junior B Squad (age 14 to 18)

The racing groups have a greater commitment to training in order to compete successfully at national events, and members of these groups must show the dedication to progress towards this level.
